What is Stone Veneer?
Stone veneer options are:

  1. Full depth stone which is 3 to 6 inches in depth and requires a footing, is typically set with a stiff mortar mix and anchored with wall ties.
  2. Thin stone veneer is cut from real stone into slices and is adhered to the wall with wire lath using fasteners and a cement scratch coat and then bonded with a mortar mix. The thickness of a thin stone veneer wall depth is max. 2-5/8 inches and does not typically require a footing. Suppliers are ” K2 Stone” and “Stone Concept” as well as “BrockWhite” and “IXL Masonry Supplies” in Calgary.
  3. Cultured stone veneer is usually 2 inches in thickness and adhered to the wall similarly as the real stone thin veneer but the cultured stone veneer is a man made product assimilating a stone like facade and comes in a very wide range of shapes, sizes and colours. Manufacturers are “Eldorado Stone Products” and “Cultured Stone”.
